Elden’s Ring Players who have chosen their starting class and traveled into the Lands Between may have already seen that they have spent level points on stats that aren’t particularly useful. If that’s the case, you’re in luck: Ring of Elden, like other FromSoftware games, allows you to respect your character. You won’t be able to do it right away, and the item you’ll need to do it isn’t always easy to come by, but it’s a handy tool for reorganizing your construction or for other reasons we’ll go into later.
Please be aware that this post contains Ring of Elden spoilers because you will need to spend some time in the game before you can learn to respect your character. Here’s what to do if that’s not a problem and you’re ready to play again.
Where to Respec Your Ring of Elden Character
Elden Ring’s respect feature comes from an unlikely source: a boss. Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, is a character you may have heard about from in-game story explainers. You’ll have to face her as your second main boss, and she’ll give you a Great Rune (it might not be the second if you fight them in the wrong sequence, but we haven’t tried that yet). She may be found at the Raya Lucaria Academy building, which is a must-see after defeating Godrick, the Great Rune’s first boss.
You will be returned to the Academy Library once your combat is completed and you have been judged the victor. Rennala is in the middle, but she isn’t seeking a brawl. She can be approached and will discuss the “rebirth” with players. She has accepted her offer and will allow you to keep your points. This implies she will be repaid all of the levels she has spent in her character and will be able to reallocate her points, but she understands she will not be able to go below the base stats she began the class with.
You’ll need a Larval Tear first if you want to be respected.
Where to Find Larva Tears
Larval Tears are exceedingly rare, making them difficult to come by and much more difficult to justify because you never know when the next one will appear. We have, however, identified at least a few locations where they can be found. If you’re lucky, you could have already seen one on your travels and don’t need to look for one, but if that isn’t the case, we’ve got you covered.
One of them can be found in Aldea de los Albinaricos. It is located directly south of Raya Lucaria Academy and is accessible via the lake that surrounds it. In the settlement, there is a spring and a cemetery where the Tear can be found.
Stop at Lake Liurnia on your way there or back, and you’ll find a crayfish foe in the middle of the body of water. It’s already standing up, unlike some of the others that are submerged, and when slain, it’ll drop a Larval Tear. However, this is a fight with a twist, so be prepared to put in some effort to earn your respect.
Finally, if you only want to purchase one, go underground and look for a lone trader. The Siofra River Well, located near the Lesser Erdtree in Mistwood, will lead you underneath. At the bottom, run through the slow-moving opponents and head to the other elevator. When you reach the wider river area, walk through the floating electricity balls and beneath the first massive bridge until you notice another bridge covered with scaffolding. Follow the ledges up to a shopkeeper who will sell you a Larval Tear for 3,000 Runes.
In-Ring of Elden, there are additional Larval Tears, but not many more, so plan your respects carefully.
