Mobile phones, tablets, and e-books, to name a few… How many gadgets do you use on a regular basis? We have an increasing number, and the majority of them charge their batteries via a USB cord. Home sockets, on the other hand, are not designed to accommodate this new reality. Until now! We demonstrate how to replace a standard plug with a base that includes a USB port for your devices.
What You Need Is:
- Screwdriver
- Plug with USB
1.Remove The Old Plug
It’s time to get the installation started! Remember to turn off the power before working on any electrical installation to avoid injury. FOREVER!
After disconnecting the electricity, use a flat screwdriver to remove the frame of the plug you wish to replace and loosen the screws that hold the old base to the wall. Then stretch the base apart until there’s enough room to work with the cables.
2. Disconnect The Cables
Disconnect the cords once you get access to them. There was simply a hot and a neutral wire in our situation, but you can also locate a ground wire (green and yellow). Due to the fact that this was an older installation, it only had the first two.
By legislation, all installations and plugs must now include a ground wire.
3. Connect The New Plug
Connect the cables to the new USB base and screw the frame of your new plug to the wall once you’ve completely detached the old plug. Place each cable – phase, neutral, and ground – in its respective terminal, using a screwdriver to secure it if necessary.
The socket base should then be inserted into the frame. It’s a simple and quick operation in this case, thanks to a clipping system. Place the trim frame to complete.
And we are all set! That’s how simple it was to set up this new and useful plug. Leave your thoughts in the comments section, and then go ahead and alter the ones you have at home.
